Swachchhta Monitor
**Title: My Experience as a Swachchhta Monitor – Manasvi, Class 8**
As a student of class 8, I was honored to be selected as a Swachchhta Monitor for my school. At first, I didn't fully understand the responsibility that came with this title. However, as time passed, I realized that being a Swachchhta Monitor is not just about ensuring cleanliness within the school but also about spreading awareness and making a positive impact on the community.
### My Role in School
My primary duty as a Swachchhta Monitor is to keep an eye on the cleanliness of our school premises. I work with my fellow students to make sure that classrooms, corridors, and common areas are always clean and garbage-free. We also encourage our classmates to throw waste in the dustbins, avoid using plastic, and maintain personal hygiene. With the guidance of our teachers, we organize clean-up drives in and around the school.
### Community Awareness
One of the most important aspects of being a Swachchhta Monitor is the opportunity to reach out to our families and community. We don't stop at the school gates. Our school has asked us to talk to our parents and neighbors about proper waste disposal, recycling, and the importance of keeping our surroundings clean. I’ve personally taken up this challenge. I remind my family members and neighbors not to throw garbage on the roads and to separate waste into dry and wet categories for proper disposal. It’s amazing how a small conversation can make such a big difference.
### Challenges and Learning
One of the challenges I faced was convincing people, especially in my neighborhood, about the importance of cleanliness. Some of them weren’t very interested in listening at first. But I didn’t give up. I continued to spread the message with the hope that they would understand the long-term benefits. Over time, some of them have started paying attention to how they handle waste, and that makes me proud.
Through this experience, I’ve learned that every small action counts. Keeping our surroundings clean is a collective responsibility. Whether it’s encouraging my classmates to throw their waste in the right bin or reminding my parents to compost kitchen waste, I feel like I’m doing my part in making a cleaner and greener future.
### Looking Ahead
Being a Swachchhta Monitor has given me a sense of responsibility and pride. I now know that change starts with small steps and that everyone, no matter how young or old, can contribute to a cleaner environment. I am excited to continue my journey as a Swachchhta Monitor and help my school and community stay clean, healthy, and happy.
Let’s all pledge to do our part in keeping our surroundings clean – because **Swachh Bharat** is everyone’s dream!
